What We Offer

Mindfulness Techniques for Mental Clarity and Calm

Mindfulness involves intentionally paying attention to the present moment with curiosity and compassion. This practice has been shown to support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve overall mental clarity.

At Innate Wisdom Psychiatry & Wellness, we integrate mindfulness tools such as:

  • Breathwork

  • Guided and independent meditation

  • Body scan practices

  • Grounding and visualization techniques

These practices help you build awareness of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without becoming overwhelmed or reactive. Over time, mindfulness increases self-understanding, insight, emotional/cognitive flexibility, and the ability to pause before reacting—shifting your relationship with stress and your internal experience.

Somatic Techniques:
Reconnecting with the Wisdom of the Body

Somatic techniques are body-based therapeutic approaches that support healing from the inside out—especially for those with histories of trauma or chronic stress.

These techniques help regulate the nervous system and restore a sense of safety and connection in the body. Trauma often leaves its imprint not just on the mind, but in the body itself. Through somatic work, we:

Tune into physical sensations, movement, and internal cues

Cultivate body-based awareness (interoception and proprioception)

Support release of stored tension and trauma patterns

Reestablish a grounded sense of self

By learning to attune to the body’s innate wisdom, we can shift out of chronic stress responses and gently move toward greater peace, integration, and healing.

Lifestyle Changes That Support Mental Health

Your daily habits matter. Small, intentional lifestyle changes can have a powerful effect on your mental health. These are the factors within your control that can amplify the benefits of medication and therapy—or, in some cases, reduce the need for higher medication doses.

We work with you to make manageable, evidence-based changes that improve mental wellness, such as:

  • Emphasizing whole foods, such as those found in the Mediterranean diet

  • Supporting brain health and the gut-brain connection (microbiome)

  • Reducing inflammation that contributes to mood instability

Nutrition and Diet

  • Incorporating regular movement into your routine, even in small amounts

  • Improving energy, sleep, and overall emotional resilience

Movement and Exercise

  • Aiming for 7–9 hours of quality sleep per night

  • Exploring healthy sleep hygiene habits

  • Addressing sleep disorders like sleep apnea

  • Enhancing mood, cognition, and emotional regulation

Sleep and Rest

Lifestyle changes can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to make them alone. We’ll help you find what works for your life and support you in integrating these changes step by step.

I’ve been seeing Daniel Plastino for about 3 years now and he has been instrumental in helping me through my mental health challenges.
